Is there way to make sure a neck snared coyote is quickly dipatched by the snare? I'm sure a long snare with non-relaxing lock and maybe a killspring would work IF the coyote does run and hit the end hard but what if he don't? Killpoles wouldn't be an option either for the area I'm thinking due to trespassers trucks. How do you make them take that run and lunge?

Get behind them and go "BOO" right after they are caught.

You gotta learn to think out of the box man.

Heck, you might not even have to go boo, just walk up behind them...LOL

ADC I have used them like this many times using cam locks using 6' snares, I think when a coyotes feels it on their neck the first thing they think is try to fight it, I have had good luck with trail snares in the grass, heck I have had chew outs on crawl unders more then open trails. Just my opionon

That's just it Andy I have heard that they don't ALWAYS do that.

Great minds think a like Andy! LMAO

ADC I have had some coyotes not fight the snare but for the most part they have been in some kind of cover, I think the ones in the open might fight a little hard though, and I use springs on all my snares too, forgot to add that.

I don't know, but the go to guys if you have a question about snares is either Newt Sterling or ADC. Oh, well, never mind ADC, I can't help you. \:\)

99% of the time I'll bet a spring would be all you would need, and in this game there are no 100%s.

Try driving a long rebar stake and leaving it a foot or so above ground. Shouldnt be quite as obvious as a killpole.

ardel grawe uses a 10 ft??? snare and a kill spring, says they are all dead or as good as dead in short order.
we dont really have to deal with it here, theres plenty of trees to kill em with.

i personally don't like a dead coyote in a snare, too many dogs running around, hate to hook on to a farmers or hunters dog, kill the dog in the snare, when purposely set to kill, cause as we all know, snares are a device to restrain an animal not kill it. then we have a problem, plus hate having a dead coyote as they are harder to skin when the body has rigormortus, lol.
