You got a good deal pesty. I don't know what year I'd say faiorly recent due to the country of manufacture. It looks like a fairly good jerk off of the outasite. It should pay for itself quickly.

I think I'll hang on to it . I'm temped by the dollar and all but I'll put it in my collection .

Those are the good ones. The last ones have been made in China. They are junk.

I can find no information about the distributor of trap, VL Products, INC., probably gone out of business. Based on the style of packaging, I would suspect that they were made before VICTOR bought the patent. I bought my first Victor® OUT O'SIGHT® Mole Traps when they first came out, many years ago. What you have may be considered “collectable”! If I had it, I would try to keep it (and packaging) in original condition until I heard otherwise. Can anyone provide additional information?

It looks like the OOS before Victor switched their manufacturing from Taiwan to China nearly a decade ago. Those seemed to have weaker springs, and the setters weren't nearly as heavy duty.
I don't know how old that trap is, but the packaging appears 80-ish. Like LAtrapper, I would wager Victor bought the rights. Parent Woodstream now owns Sweeney's and Terro as well, I believe.
By the way, Pesky, did you ever post a pic of the old Victor harpoon with the loop top? I'd love to get my hands on one.

Sure looks like it came from the same factory in Taiwan as the out of sight. I bet victor had an exclusive deal with the factory but once Victor bailed on that and went with a Chinese manufacturer, then I bet the Taiwanese factory looked for other distributors, and looks like a company in WA made a go at distributing the trap. That's my guess but don't know for sure. I will check Rex Marsh's mole rep collectors guide when I can. I would guess its from the early 90's

The patent rights on this trap would have expired in about 1920, Victor only owns the trademark name "out o sight". Anybody can make, Import or sell that trap under another name
