My son's house had a mold issue but it only cost him about $45 grand. I'm pretty sure that this is an issue we are not equipped to handle and guarantee.

I've seen to many scumbags, oops that should read attorneys, involved in mold cases gone bad. I wouldn't touch which someone else's ten foot pole.

I don't think mold is an add on service,,,,,, Best current way of mitigation is freezing,,,,,, (big dollar machine)

I wonder if there will be enough coffee and middle fingers to make it through the day.

Mold remediation also requires a third party for air quality testing,,,,,,

Check out pesticide license requirements...among others. Are you an industrial hygeinist or toxicologist? Testimg of mold toidentify species is important to quantify the risk.

Kasey,

Just to set the tone I'm not trying to be a smart _ _ _, just curious about something.

I thought maybe you were looking into this with the gear you've acquired for bat clean outs or training.
You mentioned in the last post that you are already doing mold clean outs. This begs the question, what
training did you have to go through in Wisconsin to be able to qualify to do this.

I'm not looking to be a mold guy, but know in some states just getting qualified to roll out insulation or
install drywall takes 3 years of pro contracting work before you even qualify.

I just assume with mold and the serious serious health risks that come with living among it, let alone having
someone tear it out and remove it for you, would require major training?

Am I right or wrong?

Again just curious very seriously not being a wise guy, serious question, thanks,

Justin

There is not a certification that you need
To have in Wisconsin! However there is a set
Of guild lines to follow here, kind off like bat work
In Wisconsin! A set of guidelines to follow but
Not necessarily law! I follow the appropriate guidelines
For both! It is only black mold in attics and in crawl
Spaces that I have delt with! Anything beyond my
Abilities I contract out or just refere the customer to them!

Be careful because I know what the #1 occupational safety hazard is for a guy who handles mold or any type of abatement work is !!.

Wear a mask . If you smoke quit. Protect your lungs. No safety shortcuts your family and that family you are treating are counting on you.

Seek professional training in that industry . Stay current.

Quite a bit of interesting information is found at this LINK. I believe that consumers should be provided similar information before hiring a contractor. A few years ago, mold was a big item in the news and a lot of shady characters entered the profession. They were preying on the ignorance and fears created by all of the hyperbole associated with mold. I hope that most of these fear mongers have been put out of business.

The CDC and EPA both contain extensive information on mold and mold remediation. Even OSHA is getting its foot in the door. Everyone seems to agree that solving the moisture problem will prevent mold problems. Also, remember that there are still a lot of hungry lawyers out there chasing “ambulances”!

Note to self- Engage brain before opening mouth (or hitting the ENTER key/SUBMIT button).

Thanks Ron, I bet that is very true, the field was probably ripe with folks looking to sell high dollar remediation.
All the hype works too, because when I see mold of any kind I'm thinking oh my gosh, this is going to be expensive
for this person to fix.

Good point, thanks for the links.
