When adding glycerine or glycol to urine to keep it from freezing how much do you add? The first year that i messed around with land trapping i had problems with urine freezing and turning to slush in my squirt bottle so i started putting 1oz glycol in a 8oz squirt bottle and then filling the rest with urine and that worked well and i had no problem with freezing after that. Also i will say that the urine i added glycol to has held up better and still smells fresh unlike the urine that i did nothing to. Talk to me...

If you had success with that ratio, then I'd say you ought to stick with it. A lot depends on the climate. You being in GA would probably need less antifreeze than someone in northern MN.

Ya i was thinking about that also paul so i guess i will stick with it. I was just wondering if it was to much maybe cause now that i have thought about it in bigger amounts "1 pint in a gallon jug and then add urine to fill" it seems like to much but maybe not.

Butch, if it worked, you caught critters with it, then I'd say you did it right.

You'll get all kinds of advice on the right way and wrong way, but there's something I learned a long time ago and it has served me good over the years..... The only right way of doing anything is the way that works for you.

Propylene glycol will CHANGE the odor of your urine if not kept in a freezer after it has been added. Glycol would be the best choice. Some trappers have used common table salt with success, although I would caution that trick around rabbits, livestock or a heavy deer population.

I just watched a pretty good Coyote video (Johnny thorpe) which stated not to use Propylene Glycol but only Glycerine at a rate of 4oz glycerine to a pint of urine. Apparently the urine at the set wont evaporate nearly as fast with Glycerine added. Just what I heard... have not tried it yet, however.

Sorry, I am a new guy to this board. I feel very fortunate to have found this site as I see there is a LOT of experience here. I have been going back through the archives and see what I have written was already covered in depth by people whom have proven track records. I have some questions of my own but will try and get them answered from past replies, first. A lot of good info, here. I enjoy it.
