Can't afford the griz getters and such, but this works for me.

WOW Matt! That's pretty slick. Do you set that on top of a box ?

Never happier than when I smell just a little skunky.

Dig a trap bed deep enough to accept the size trap you have but make sure it's deep enough so the jaws don't hit the plywood when it's set off. Make sure the hole in the plywood lines up with the trap pan, and the plywood is pegged down with a couple small sticks hence the two smaller holes in the opposite corners.

I thought that made a pretty good picture. He was reaching in for mini-marshmellows and got caught making one to many trips to the "cookie jar". LOL

sorry no pics before I'll get some tomorrow

as far as no stakes, I'll not try that, I want whatever pegged to the ground or on a drag. Don't need anyone finding a big boar coon with a piece of plywood and a trap on his foot.

Remember the bigger the board the big place he has to put his back feet and pull against the trap.

Just food for thought

Hey LT Grey he may be pretty but you would have to wipe the milk off his lips be for you skinned him. Let him grow up he will be bigger next year.

With dogs or traps you cant get them all.

How big is that hole in the wood? Looks to be about 1.5"? Very cool set up, I want to try that this year.

Hi,

I was wondering how big a round the hole in the board is? Would you mind letting me know this?

Thanks,

MCB

i figure you'd want the board not much bigger than you need to make it. dispatching, could "mess it up" with fluids you wouldn't want at a set. but, the idea is neat.

the grump.

Matt, I've been kicking the same idea around for years, but haven't done it yet. Read an article several years ago where the guy used PVC end caps, I think the were 7". Stopped at Lowe's and they were 5$ apiece and quite heavy as well, so scrap that idea. I got a bunch of scrap 1/2" plywood of a job this summer and am going to give it a try. My main questions already been asked, how big a hole do you us, and have you ever used #1 coils or just 1 1/2?

I like that idea, I may have to try something simmilar. How do you place your bait so that they trip the pan of the trap? I'm assuming you don't put the mellows on top of the pan or they would be easily taken out. Do they go under the pan? Also how much tention do you run on your traps? Is lighter better in this case? Dan
