turn the ears on fur that you put up for the fur market?? this weather we had last week (80 with 65% humidity) 'bout hurt some fur. had some fur slip on the ears on a few pieces. i know it doesn't really matter on fur for the market 'cuz they just chop off the head anyway, but....

I did when I was selling, I still do now as I'm the end user.

It's a good habit to get into just for your reason, once you learn it, it does not slow things done that much.

Most of the other meat on the head you can get by with not doing anything to but them ear pockets, they are thick enough to make the ears slip if they don't dry quickly.

i always get the meat off the ear butts, and flesh the eyes and then back.

how far do you folks turn them??? i turned a cats ears easily tonight, about 3/4 the way... a sharp small bladed knife works well for it.

James. when you are skinning the carcuss, as you start skinning out the ears keep pulling and skinning. Then insert a rod under the ear and pull thru. This will peel the cartilage off the back of the ear and leave the cart on the carcuss and the inside skin that is useless.

Grit, I always knew you wanted to be an enduser. ROFLMAO ( its nice to reachout to ole Thomas)

I turn mine and dust them with borax to help speed the drying process on them.

Thats just cause you are always galavanting around the Country teaching pretty girls how to trap and rounding up your pet coons and tagging them....

Ifin you ever stayed home and took care of those namadic waterless beaver you would have more free time. Of coase you can only work half the week with all the guberment holidays...
