At a local coffee shop I have been hearing a lot of talk about banning "Assault Rifles." When asked to define an "assault rifle" not one in ten can give an answer. My next question is "How are you going to ban something when you don't know what it is?"

Ben did a very good job of dismantling the caller's "facts", without getting into name calling or condescending tones. Hopefully there is a link somewhere to the audio portion.

Is this the gas station / restaurant in Idaville, or are you going to Monticello or Logansport? I've witnessed a few leftist conversations at eateries in Logansport, but wouldn't expect it in the other locales.

Thanks, that kind of surprises me. I certainly met my share of democrats in White County, but they were the 70's/80's era blue dogs who believed the dems did a better job of protecting the blue collar worker. They still were generally tougher on crime, pro 2A, and socially moderate. I understand there is more diversity of thought in all geographies than the media tends to imply, but in the early 2000'a that district was at one time considered literally the most conservative house district in the country. (That was when Buyer had the 4th, and the boundary ran "tall and skinny" from Monticello to Bedford.)

Anyway, sorry for hijacking the thread. I just have some demographic and political interest in a place I used to call home.
