Thanks for the info guys, I will be pulling a sleigh behind it about 50% of the time with about 130lbs in it.
Not sure if that changes any bodys opinions. From info so far Im researching other sleds as well but still
leaning towards skidoo for they are the closest dealer.
Thanks

You might as well get a 900 ace if your going four stroke and pulling weight. The new 2019 expedition has 5 more hp due to the new chassis design.

The new expedition is also available with a 24 inch wide track, but from guys that have tried them, the performance lacks a bit in the deep snow compared to the scandik superwide.

130 pounds is nothing...a Tundra is all you need for that. Im going to need a new machine before to much longer, and thought about trying another 4-stroe, but when I compare the price difference vs the fuel economy I'm not so sure it makes sense.....Figure 20 mpg for the ACE and 12 or so for any of the 550 fan engines. With our gas prices a guy might save $1300-$1500 on fuel over the course of 10,000 miles. That is of course if the 4-stroke doesn't have to go to the shop during that time. By the time you figure the price difference, its a wash, with the 2-stroke actually being cheaper to own.....

Don't forget to factor in the cost of 2-stroke oil.

Yea thats true, but I still think the 2-stroke would be cheaper to own / operate. I know the 600 ACE was originally said to get up to 30 MPG but from what I understand that was the short track model, the skandic guys aren't getting close to that from what I've seen. Last winter a buddy came in to my line for an overnight visit. Its a 55 mile trip one way. He drives an old Bravo. He brought a buddy that had a Skandic 600 ACE WT. They both burned 5-gallons on the trip in pulling a very light load. So I wasn't to impressed with that milage for a 14K machine.

If you can get 12 mpg out of a 550 you must be travelling groomed trails with no cargo, and even then it would require a strong tail wind. I had a 2005 expedition sport with 137 track that had the 550. I loved the machine but fuel usage was unreal 6-8 back country or pulling loads. Not so much the money that bothered me as much as the lack of range and hauling fuel. Running a 2017 expedition sport and a 2014 tundra sport now both in 600 ace, pretty impressed with both machines. I actually prefer the tundra as it is much more nimble particularly in the woods also less tippy. But the expedition really shines in deep snow and breaking trail.

My 550 voyageur 155 gets 12 mpg on a good day. I figured it out trail riding three weeks ago several times. It drops a bit when towing or breaking heavy snow of course.

I got an honest 12 mpg over 280 miles of mixed riding three weeks ago. That's riding very twisty OFSC trails, cruising lakes at 50-60 mph, and driving pretty aggressively accelerating out of corners, etc. Not towing breaking trail but I would figure 8 mpg doing that.

I've never run the 550 machines, so maybe they are worse, but my 570 Bearcat gets 12 or better 90% of the time, and I can promise you my trails are not groomed!! Wish they were. My son has the old 503 in a Skandic and it is very similar. We cant go fast in our country so maybe that makes a difference too. I bet my Bearcat has never gotten over 35 MPH since Ive owned it. Just to much twisty tough trail.

i can't help you with comparing the 2 vs 4 stroke or the difference in length of track. all i know is that i'm happy with my tundra 500 sport ace with the 137" track i have had for 2 seasons. 4 stroke is nice and quiet and don't miss the 2 stroke stink. great fuel economy.
Hauls everything i have asked it too. Deer hunting, trapping , ice fishing gear, firewood and every day use it hauling feed for livestock roughly 500 lb loads a trip. Machine is light and narrow and i can weave through bush no problem. You do have to ride it not sit and drive.
one -40 morning it wouldn't start, just a click. Warmed up relay in mitt and it fired right up & the dealer sent me new relay for free for spare.
last winter i buried sled 4 times in powder from my waist to over my shoulder and it was brutal digging it out. the sled now has a box permanently in the basket with strap along, shovel & extra rope .Some say if i had longer track or more HP or lighter motor i would have kept afloat better, not sure and hope i never see the 2 storms we had back to back like last winter.

Was just going to ask what people thought of the 137 track I have missed out on a few of the 154 track 550s now seems they don't stay for sale long but there is a few of the 137 track ones around. Maybe there is a reason for that.

I was told by folks i trust that with the 154" i would be giving up maneuverability/handling. Not sure if the longer track would have kept me afloat in all that powder last year or not. i just kept sinking deeper and deeper till i bogged down then that was that...last year was brutal snow conditions thou. no other complaints so far
