You are basically right here - I don't care if you kill yourself with drugs. Unfortunately, these idiots are very good at getting other people killed or hurt with their behavior, and then billing the rest of us for it.

Freedom has its rough points, too. Those activities where harm is done to others should be punished, and in most cases already is. The poor choice of using drugs harms one's own body. As far as billing 'us' for the harm done, well, that's probably a discussion for a socialized medicine thread.

Understanding has little to do with it. I don't understand how two men can love each other in a sexual way, among other oddities of humanity. The bottom line is accepting that one owns one body and shouldn't be thrown in a cage simply for using, posessing or selling something.
The wide swath of destruction that drug use has caused our society may be narrowed by legalization (notice I didn't say normalization, understanding or acceptance of drug use).
