My most loyal friend is a 13 year old black lab.I have had many good dogs over the years, but none matches Phoenix. He hasn't been hunting since he was young, thats because he was a companion and protector for my wife, when I was gone.
I called my wife from the FTA convention,to see how she was.She said she got up in the middle of the night,Phoenix was laying at the top of the stairs, looking at the door-waiting for me to get home.
When I arrive home,he rushes to greet me. And at 95 pounds he still wants to be--a lap dog.If I am sitting on the couch,he gets his upper body across my lap.His hind feet are still on the floor, and he quickly falls asleep.
Trouble is he is 13 years old, thats old for a large dog.Like me,he isn't as fast or spry as he once was.
I can't express in words how much this dog has done for my wife and me--a truer friend can not be found.
 Tom

If my feet aren't wet,I must not be trapping.

The only bad thing about em' is you will have to learn to sew, they don't quit. I use her to hunt raccoons and stuff like that. I have to be careful she tries to go after yotes too. You wouldn't be disappointed.

Good to know, once I seen a guy had a jagdterrier and it was in a mouth to mouth lock with a badger and it tore the skin off the bottom jaw of the dog and the dog still killed it

We have Toby, a boxer. He is dopey and lazy until a 4-wheeler is started. He can run up to 22 mph. Beside a 4-wheeler. When he is around you can count on us NOT being attacked by animals. He kills anything within 100yds of the house unless its our farm animals. Great dog. We had to put my favorite dog,Tucker down a couple weeks ago. He was a maremma sheepdog and trained Toby to look out for us

I have a bordernese, she's more of a farm dog then a trapline dog. But as long as we're on the subject of dogs, do any of you know how to keep a dog home without a fence?

Outside dog, she's on a pulley cable thing, but I'd really like to be available to let her run

We are about 3/4 of a acre from the road. I put a shock collar her and took her down to the end of the drive way and when she tried to cross I beeped her twice but she didn't stop so I shocked her and she came right back and after a couple times she won't cross. I'm still keeping a eye on her and only letting her loose when I'm out and putting in in a pen or on her chain when I'm not. I'm also calling her back when she gets to far. Thx for your guys help we see how it goes, I'm looking into a buried fence.
