I'm not a big numbers beaver trapper, I've really only been chasing them for 2ish years now, but in my area so far I just can't seem to get a great response off of castor. I've used back breaker (which has by far been the most effective castor based lure I've used), Marsyada's beaver castor, and 3 or 4 other castor based lures and almost every time regardless of the season I'll catch beaver off Woodchipper over castor. 3 or 4 colonies could just be a coincidence, but it's been going on long enough it's starting to turn into a pattern. Woodchipper is just flat out more effective for me.

Is Woodchipper a food based lure? I have much better success with Bob Wilson's green in summer for nuisance. Castor gets a bit of action, but Bob Wilson's more. In fall, no difference. If I had only one, I would pick Bob Wilson's. I'd like to try some wood chipper though Yes, it is food based. When it gets warm down here, it's the only lure I use. It works all year long. Castor based lures tend not to be as effective for me down here in the heat of summer.

The more I use Woodchipper, the better I like it. Works great all year and is attractive to adult females as well. It's become my favorite.

Aix, I've just been using basic feed sets mostly. Both with foot holds, snares and conibears. Some halfway peeled sticks and a glob of Woodchipper and good to go. Ill occasionally toss and apple or some corn or something in the pile if it's convenient and there aren't too many geese or ducks around. I don't see why Woodchipper wouldn't work on torpedoes either. Might be worth a try

Backbreaker is my go to lure. You will also need a "change up" lure. A change up lure is used when a beaver has a bad experience at a set and has become shy of the Backbreaker. I like to use Jeff Dunlaps "Big Pile" as a change up lure. Although many others are just as effective.

Once again, I’d like to hear what type of sets they use with wood chipper, as well as how they’re applying and presenting the lure. Thanks I usually use it with bait, usually popple. But I also use it sometimes just to get them to swim down a channel through a 330, or where ever I want to attract them. It isn't really site specific. I especially like to use it at ADC sites where beaver have been trapped previously and where I think they could possibly be castor shy.
