I used to open up every red fox years ago, one had 25 short tail voles in it's stomach, all whole. Old boy was as fat as a beagle. I used stomach contents alot on early season pups back then. I tried to stabalize the contents, never did figure out how.

There's a lot to learn from studying scat and stomach contents.

There is a reason animals eat the liver first...vitamin c. They desperately need it in the winter.

I have access to an almost unlimited supply of sheep carcasses...

I have had good success with sheep carcasses as long as they have not been medicated heavily.

Did I miss if anyone suggested Prairie Dogs?? I am surprised I didn't see dogs on the list!!

I think they work very well.

Ground squirrel works equally well. Imo as pairie dog.
Neither be my first choice but they work.

andy your the man!! opening up a yotes gut. im inquisitive but I draw the line on that one. I can see your point on the regurgitaded food thought though. There wouldn't be a yote on this planet that hasn't had a good exspirience with that smell! Have you tested your theory on mature dogs? I can see it being devastating to the pup crop.

Me personally id be scared to mess with brains of deer with all the cwd going around!
