Take the rubber jaws off first
Do whatever treatment you chose.
Clean in peroxide bath and put them back on the trap. Good to go.
Just how I do it when I have to use them

Just wax over them like normal traps. No big deal.

This is how I do it part of the way ,when I need to at the time to use them. The only different I do it dye and wax them. Not the peroxide bath. then put the rubber back on after the trap is done with all I stated. It is the old Victor 1 1/2 soft catch I was usen.

I hate getting caught up in these things but to maybe save you a lot of time I'll throw my 2 cents in;When victor came out with the soft catch in the early '80's I bought a couple dozen.I used them for primarily fox and 'coon.Over the years these traps accounted for a lot of fur, alot of fox red and grey, and a pile of coon.I treated them like I did the rest of my traps;they all went in the same bucket together with nothing special done. And they worked just fine.

I agree with Buck. I have treated them along with my other traps and have had no problems.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I used Formula 1 back when I had to use RJ's. I soaked them for a few days in the purple jug of degreaser from Wal Mart and rinsed good then hung them out for a few days to get a little color to them and then dipped. Never had a problem with the rubber at all unless I caught a coon then you may as well get ready to replace them.

I boiled somewhere around 150 rubber jaw 550's yesterday and waxed them all this morning. Scrape the wax off the dog and bottom of the pan where the dog engages and good to go.

I use to catch coyote with the same Victor 1 1/2 soft catch traps. At the time the state I was in, let you use them only after you took the course to use them and how to use them. What I did work for me.I still got that same 12 I got back in the mid 80's.

You only have to use them if the landowner has told you so.
