What's the heaviest bobcat you've ever gotten? I read something the other day that said on rare occasions big males can reach 50 pounds.?

A guy from the UP last year got one right around that size it was a hog of a cat, heck 30lb is big cat most days!

I never weighed one but im confident this one wasn't over 30. 50 would be a monster heres another big tom. no where near 50 pounds about one in a thousand (maybe) of the 30 pound coons you hear about will really weigh 30 on a scale

Biggest one I've caught sold to a Taxidermist last year and he weighed it almost 29lbs Tom. He Said it was one of the bigger Males hes seen, and he does a ton of cats. He said everyone has a 30lb cat until you put it on the scale lol. Missouri's record is a 35lb female, but I'm sure people have caught larger and never messed with getting it officially weighed. I've seen a few in Coyote Tournaments up here that have Deer eating shoulders on them. His Pad filled a 550.

Biggest one I’ve ever seen in person weighed was 38# and that was an absolute toad. I see thousands a year and the real big ones are 30-34lbs

58 lbs and change. Caught by Sid Berg in 89 if memory serves. Officially weighed and acknowledged by the MN DNR. The rug looked like a small lion. He has passed, I'm not sure who has that rug now.

The biggest I caught was on my birthday 2 years ago. If memory serves me correctly he was 36 lbs. Caught a female the day before she was 28 lbs. The wardens were shocked on how big it was. Here's both

Back before I quit mounting Bobcats (violent allergy to them) I took in a bunch of them. I did a couple that were in the low-to-mid 40's, both the same season actually, but the heaviest I know of from personal friends/acquaintances was a 'cat chased for 2-3 years by the same 'cat guide. He told me he figured it went an honest 50 on the hoof. One of his clients shot the cat the next season after he told be about it. It was skinny and going down hill and weighed 48 pounds. He was pretty close on his guess of it's size.

There was one turned into NAFA that came from the 52 parallel and th Ontario boarder that was to weigh 52 pounds. It was much larger than the adult lynx that was in the bundle I don't have a lot of experience with Lynx, but any I have been around seemed to average smaller than the average Bobcat as far as weight. The darn things look bigger though, what with all that leg, feet, and fur! Some of you Lynx trappers need to chime in.

Over the last 12 years i've caught a few 40 and 40lbs plus cats,2 at 40,1 at 41,1 at 45 and my largest at 48lbs.I've caught a fair amount of cats 35 to 38lbs,my largest female weighed 28lbs.Here's a picture of a 40 and 48lb cat, both went 50" to the base of the tail with 10" base width, plus a live pic of the 48lb cat.Had one huge cat measure 54" to the base of the tail, cat weighed 37lb with a empty belly. It was also the BEST OF THE BEST MN bobcat i've ever caught, graded Western in 2007 Top lot that year was $580 i think, mine brought $280.Later years had northern cats grade top lots at $340,280 and 270.

I've never weighed any bobcats, but I doubt I've caught many toms that went much over 30 pounds. My most memorable is a medium sized female I caught on a log crossing when I was a kid. I saw that the trap was gone and stepped down off the bank looking toward the creek and almost stepped on her. She didn't care for it at all.
Beautiful cats everybody, thanks.

She didn't care for it at all. that's what I love about 'cat trappers...their UNDERSTATEMENT of the experience! I couldn't even come close in print, to the way she expressed it at the time, so I figured I'd just leave it at that.LOL

I was talking to DNR recently & they told me bobcat size in Wi's Southern Zone has increased since our harvest season started ~8 years ago. The cats seem healthier so they say. Wi has done a ton of cat research in the Southern zone.

found this one when i heard a growl right on top my head I saw that the trap was gone and stepped down off the bank looking toward the creek and almost stepped on her. She didn't care for it at all. that's what I love about 'cat trappers...their UNDERSTATEMENT of the experience! Yup! Biggest lynx I ever weighed was 35lb.only weighed a few out of many. Some were over 40 for sure. Average adult lynx is 25 to 30. Lynx are decieving to look at because of their long thick fur some look much bigger than they are. I always go by pelt size to score size.

34lb is my biggest but there are alot of hounds men around here that have told me they have got much bigger.
A lot of those houndmen are like trappers (I know, I'm both) and those cats never seen a scale. That being said, biggest I've ever hung on the scales weighed 41 1/2 pounds. I've caught three in my life that I know were bigger than that one. One of them the day before. The biggest I ever caught was in Wyoming and I honestly figured him at around 50 lbs. I actually made a wider stretcher to stretch him on he was so big, and he still stretched 56 inches.

If I get a big 1 I'll post it. Ultimately I'll probably be happy w/ any cat this winter. It's only the 2nd time I've drawn a tag. I have some spots in mind. Hopefully someone in the early season doesn't tag out on the ones I have in mind

I got me some Mark June Windwalker & Silent Stalker lure this month. 'Sure hoping I can get a cat this winter.. Drawing a winter tag in Wisconsin is tough. Mark seems to be the best Bobcat trapper in the USA. Now I need to figure out more about trap placement & his walk-through sets . 3 years ago when I had my first ever Bobcat tag I probably relied too much on fencing.

The 1st time I had a cat tag a few years ago I think I got too fancy & tried to make eccentric sets with too much flagging & fencing. It's tough to draw a cat tag in Wi. I don't want to come away empty handed on this, my 2nd attempt
