There was a long thread about mice and several very experienced mouse trappers had come to the conclusion that they were better off “blind setting” with no bait. Put the large yellow pan mouse traps against the wall, or wherever mice run, and on the lightest setting. I do it, but all my traps have been baited in the past, so I don’t know if I’m really truly blind setting.

My all time favorite mouse bait is peanut butter mixed with melted tootsie rolls. About a 60 40 blend make sure you mix it really well while the tootsie rolls are melted. Mice can't get it off the pans unless they work hard. Even then they don't get it done before its lights out! Only time I find missing bait is if one stood on its dead buddy to clean it off! AJE i've got 10 of those tin cats wish id of spent that money on big yellow pan snap traps. My second favorite is smoked cheddar cheese

The last like 6 dozen snap traps I've got have beendestroyed after they catch one mouse so I just moved to the Victor easy set quick kill trap and they work for me a littler bit more pricey but I don't trap mice a lot and I also use the 5 gallon bucket trap with a roller on top

I like the large yellow pans with a single kernel of field corn super glued to it.

Bacon or bologna will out catch PB when it comes to snap traps.

Totally different world out in the woods, where 100 mice in a week is outstanding.

If you can't catch 100 mice in a week out in the woods, then those folks must live in a bubble. Never heard of that statistic. We use our own bait for rodent traps and do very well. If mice are there, they're in the traps the following morning. Never felt the need to add more steps to baiting rodent traps with string and chunks of meat. Not for a mouse, to each their own....
