I used a fresh bag of marshmallows for some early coon in DP’s, normally I open the bag for a couple days until they get stiff. I noticed on all the early caught coon that there was no marshmallow on the trigger- meaning, they ripped it off, ate it and went back for more pulling the empty trigger. Has anyone noticed a catch difference with no marshmallow and just bait under the trigger?

I add cat food or catfish food on top of the marshmallow- I was told some coons are gun shy when they feel the bare steel trigger… second guessing that?

Mice ate our Marshmellows. Went to a do dry bait, some fish oil or coon lure, and a golf ball over the hole. Works great.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

All I use is Marshmallows with cheap pancake syrup...around here they like them....if your catching coon on marshmallows I wouldn’t be concerned that you have a coon in your DP but no marshmallow, if you had no coon and no marshmallow I’d second guess that..

Good luck

Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes......
Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....

I use the mini marshmallows. They have to work for it more.

Cheap cat food and cheap syrup or fish oil as a trailing scent.

I prefer catfish pellets and molasses. Going to mix some cheap chocolate syrup with molasses this year.

Handitrapper& Muskrat- I like the twister tails and tubing idea to replace the large marshmallow
because I pre-load everything the night before and cap everything with ¾” PVC. When I set, I replace the PVC with a golf Ball and vice versa when I pull or move locations. I tried turning the PVC cap upside down and adding lure but they typically disappear.
Son-of-Grizz – I’m also using catfish pellets covered in molasses
Ditchdiver- I also use the fish oil and I believe it helps after I cap off the DP with the golf ball, it's seem to work well on banks when you're setting closer to the water.
