I think we forget that most of the time it is curiosity that gets the non target animal into the set. I get fox, coon and coyote in on all my deer mock scrape test sites, sometimes they work the scrape harder than the deer in July and August. Also I have a lot of deer hunters report to me that the fox, coon and coyote like my dry deer attractant to the point that they will come in and out a few times every day. Same with deer, I get as many deer in on my trapping lure test sites. to check it out and leave. Matter fact some my deer scent formulations have come from my trapping lure testing. Calm animals will check out many different odors. They may not spend a lot of time there but will check it out. A pressured animal will refuse to check out new or different odors.

Bend them, so they 'bristle up', then with an aluminum nail, tack them to the ground in front of a grass tuft.
Fresher and smellier, the better.
I use them about 15 feet from a 'baited set.
Sometimes, a coyote will hit that one first.
No other scent is needed.

My son uses something called power scrape ( I think ) to make mock scrapes. He always gets pics of several coyote cocking they’re leg on the scrape , usually on the first night. Might be an easy way to get the result your looking for !
