For all that hate SS why not talk with your tax practitioner, there are ways to get paid wages and not pay into SS. Just remember you won't get any either, but for those that don't like it there are options. I did prepare taxes for two persons who opted out of SS. Both have had significant financial setbacks so the money they saved not paying SS was not utilized wisely.

It's not an opt out program. Very limited. Google it. I wish it was a "cash out" program for me. You fend for yourself.

I agree we do not need to spend as much on the Millitary. The reason we do is because the snowflakes believe only the bad guys die in war so no expense should be spared in guaranteeing so.

Probably, but the fact is we could spend half as much on the military as we do and still have the strongest military in the world. Military spending has been little more than a method of wealth transfer for many decades now.

For all those who hate socialism, I have to wonder if you really hate the USA. Our country has had elements of socialism since it's creation. Public education being an example. Can you show us any successful country in the world that isn't partially socialist in nature?

Economic philosophies such as communism, socialism and capitalism are value neutral. It is the men who implement them who add the moral component.

I agree. It maybe a Ponzi Scheme, but there many individuals out there who can't save for any kind of retirement income. So, Ponzi Scheme or not, it saves them from poverty to a point.

Every day we hear how the vast majority of Americans are saving outside of Social Security for their own individual retirement, yet people can't do it by themselves?

Interview some people living in poverty or welfare. Many of them weren't savers and spent money faster than they could make it. Some lost it from bad investments. SS may not be the answer, but it's something. I am familiar with some whose only income is SS. I'm not pro-government, but in this case for some, it's a good thing. However, there's no doubt that when in comes to the government and SS funds, the government is guilty of misappropriation big time.

I see what you are saying, these people are where they are, because they were irresponsible. Why should the rest of us be forced to lose wealth to enable their poor behavior?
