Interesting! You think an injury or born with a defect??
I have a fawn I have noticed at the ranch that has a bad limp but is as health as any deer I have seen. I saw two coyotes last spring chase twins and they rolled one and it did get away. I think the one I have around is what happened to that one.

we shot 3 deer that were all busted up last year , one doe was an old car hit whole front quarter was busted up , healed all twisted and small.
a nice rack buck , broken front leg that was fresh.
and a doe running on the bone at the first joint above the hoof
that was actually all we got for deer 3 criples
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I killed a buck a few years ago that had been leg shot above the hoof a long while ago. I looked healthy when it was jumping a fence. The rack was strange too. It was a lot smaller on the opposite side it was shot in.

Lots of folks assume missing legs on deer, coyotes, fox are from traps or shot off. Hay mower blades and combines account for most. I beleive equipment gets a lot of them also.

A few years back, there was a doe near our place for a few years and she was missing the whole front leg and when she walked, her front end bobbed up and down like a bobber, but when spooked, you couldn't tell her from a healthy deer!
