Beav: I don't know if every dryer has the "air fluff' cycle that mine at the cabin has, but it uses cool air and the hides come out quite dry in a short time and well fluffed

Maybe I could go down late at night to the local laundry Mat and do them. The wife Isn't going to let me use her washer and dryer.

I guess I am blesseD with a very supportive wife. Neither the cleaning of traps in a dishwasher or washing furs in the washer does any damage. I guess it helps that she washed our horse blankets...which are far worse

Our coyotes here look worse after they've been washed.

this is definitely true for beaver-did that this fall and I did not even have my wife say anything about blood in the driveway even once! Skinned all the beaver on the tailgate.

Let a coyote sit for 8 hours and you've got a cold, stiff carcass with fleas hanging on the end of each hair looking for another warm body. Skin em fresh and hot so the fleas stay home and let em bleed. Toss the whole dirty bloody buggy mess in the freezer and process it later when the catchin is all over.

For sure all fur skins way better after hanging in the cold for 2-3 days.Animals frozen solid on the trapline also benefit from slow thawing in the cold room.If you are in a hurry it doesn't hurt to thaw them at room temp, but you have to watch close and skin them as soon as they are ready when thawing at room temp.
