not 100% sure if its deer or not...........but i'm using straight peat moss......and nothing with salt as far as I know in the attractors. pvc had hellfire in it.....another flat set had death gland , and a dirthole this morning with soul taker..........trap is fired off and out of the bed......no catch circle. its almost like a toe caught yote scenario.

I used peat, too. Depending on how much you use, coon like to play in peat. I cut mine down to just inside the jaws, personally....but I rarely lose a coon in them either. I'm using the cast jaws (if that makes any difference).
Same with my 750s White. The same guy designed both traps.

Deer are attracted to everything. I tested a bunch of lures this fall and didn't find one the deer would pass by. My bet is deer if they are around.

bedded with peat? foxes love to dig at peat around here. pull out would most likely have a catch circle . . . just a trap snapped and flipped out of the bed screams coon or fox to me. unless you have a trap contamination problem. set up a trail camera, it will most likely tell the story. good luck

I am pretty sure I caught the same doe in one of my sets 3 days in a row, I think she didnt like the coyote gland lure and would stomp around the set Actually got videos of deer and coyote glands. It's kind of funny they jump pretty good when they hit the odor then the go right up to it and put their nose within an inch of it

I would almost bet it's deer. Never had a genuine pull out of an MB650 from a coyote or any other fur bearer.

What does pan tension have to do with a pullout in the first place? Too light a pan tension means the trap can fire before the animal is fully committed, leading to toe catches and/or pull-outs..
The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Ur saying if a coyotes foot is touching the pan when the trap fires that its fast enough to react and pull back if it's got less than 3# on pan?
