Beav, I put out a tire set a few days ago. Located in dead grass between a cut bean and a cut corn field. I already had bags of dried grass, so I semi-bedded a #3 Northwoods DLS, centered the tire so trap was in the middle of the circle, and then covered with dead grass. Not much over the trap, but more around the edges so it appears as a low spot in the middle. With a disposable rubber glove I applied 2 different baits up under the tire bead at 3 and 9 o'clock. I suppose one could even ad gland lure same was up under 12:00 or 6:00. I got thinking today I should have hooked a 10ft chain with a sabertooth drag to the trap instead of staking. Drag would probably catch the tire edge if I catch anything, but may also have the other point bite into the ground. This set is also located near an old badger hole in the bean field. I put a Ed Snieder type step down dirt hole there on the back side of the mound. Just some ideas. I waiting to see something jumping.

The ground under the bean chaff was thawed so I just beat a bed with my hammer then lined It with wax paper. Then added just enough peat moss to cover the trap then dressed It with bone dry hay fines. Know It's just a waiting game.

Had a catch at the tire today.
DOA when I got there. I reset and left stripy about 10ft away. I added some of John Grahams bobcat paste bait at 12:00 under the top edge of the tire. I plan on leaving it in this location for the next couple weeks.

Way to go. Nothing In mine today I might have to set another trap on the outside of the tire.

I'm planning how to haul 50 tires around next season. Only kidding I've often thought of trying this on junk pile locations it would be a pretty slick set up. Maybe one of these days when I see a tire in one I'll give it a try. I've seen people have luck with it, but I doubt it's anymore productive then a dirt hole next to it. Good luck to you guys.

I figured I would put In a bottom then fill It with dirt pre set pre bait then just drive around the country side dropping them off. Kind of like dropping depth charges LOL

Well I was the guy driving the country side dropping buckets full of dog food for coons when they were worth money, so I probably shouldn't say anything. Lol.

Haha! We got an old tractor tire leaned up against a tree on the plantation. I could flip it over and set about 5 traps around and in it. And use it as an anchor for all 5 traps!!

i redid or set 15 sets yesterday and have to admit i'm most eager to check the tire set out back.have caught a batch of fur here already but still some here.

it's pouring down rain here so I'm not banking on catching anything. Will probably have to re make It once things dry out a bit,
