What ya got and what do you like about it or not? We have local cable, landline and internet but it just is getting out of hand $190 a month and if I dump the landline they bump up the internet speed so the price is about the same. Me I could careless but the wife is a TV junkie so I need a little bit of everything to tame the beast in her. LOL

I figure I'd keep the internet and dump the landline and cable and go another route for TV and drop the big bill that way.

Any input on what I gain or lose going this way?

We just did a trial for sling and I guess our internet wasn't good enough here. Just too slow, dragging, buffering, whatever they call it. Netflicks does okay though. Heard of one called buck-tv but they want a dollar for a one day trial. Just kind of turned me off.

Got Roku a few weeks ago for about $45 one time cost. You can get a lot of free channels but quite a bit of junk on it also. Worth the $45 though.

T20 when you say fox news , do you mean local? I would like to drop cable but the wife and I like watching Fox news national.

If you like bad movies you will love netflix! In saying that, I like it better than the $190 cable bill i once had. I have netflix and hulu and can watch letterkenny, southpark and really bad movies

I dropped our cable several years ago, to darned expensive and we don't watch that much tv. Got Netflix with the 2 movies at a time option and that does it for us along with the local free channels. Saved a lot of money that I was basically throwing away.

We dropped Dish a few years back. We have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and a jail broken fire stick. We probably use Netflix the most and Hulu the least.

We had Hulu for awhile. Not great. We now have Amazon Prime only. Some good movies and some good "Prime Original" TV series. I really haven't even scratched the surface of what's available yet and we have had it for a year. I think we pay about $120 a year Prime.

My wife subscribed to Fox Nation, but we are having trouble streaming it to the TV. Their app has a few bugs to work out. I have the TV hard wired to router and still cannot get it to work.

She likes to watch Fox and Friends before she leaves for work, and I enjoy Bret Bair in the evening.

This is the only reason we are still connected to cable.

Help yourself.

I get Philo for $16 a month that has about 40 of the core cable channels and netflix for $7.99 and with an indoor tv antenna 3 other channels. I use a roku express, many cable channels have a roku channel that you can watch all or most of their shows on demand.

Looked at Hulu and it seems like it has the TV channels that my cable had that we watch the most, movies are OK but the wife has a schedule of TV shows that are pretty intense and if I get the local channels that might work for us. I would see what movies they offer also just TV is her thing movies are for when zero is on 150 channels that night.

I have Hulu Live and stream it on a roku stick. It costs me $40 a month with no contracts and I get pretty much all of the cable channels that I watched when I had Dish including all of the major sports channels. I had the Directv streaming service before Hulu and it was good but was lacking in the sports channels.

If you have good internet try out Directv Now, not direct dish. It's a streaming service. We run it over a firestick for $55 a month. They have several different packages. You can add some movie channels for$5 a month as well. We dropped dish network last month and I don't miss them one bit.

I have a Roku tv with Amazon, Netflix, Youtube, etc. Netflix has been a complete waste. Kids love wathing things on Youtube, but thats it. Other than that we watch Dish channels. It just depends on what you like to watch. Try it before commiting.

Letterkenny is the best! we do the basic hulu and amazon prime, run off of a fire stick, but can run straight from a smart tv and dont need a stick or roku, we can stream local news show online. i really miss network tv less than i thought, have two teenage boys and they are happy enough with youtube
