Check out youtube. there are some good videos there.
I just wish I could find some of the stuff. A little hollow I own is full of black birch and I have looked there and other places on other birches-not a single find yet.

We find quite a bit and i got some from last year , just did'nt know if it would still be good .

A friend found some this fall and said he just broke it up and put some pcs in a jar to grind up for tea and put other cs in vodka and was letting it steep. I'm not sure what he plans to do with it.

If you dry it it will keep a long time. Just make sure it doesn’t mold. Adding vodka your friend is making tincture .

I usually knock a chunk off the birch if I can, but haven't gotten much just lately. I always assumed it last as long as you wanted it to unless, as stated above, it molded.
