Nice shots again, and gorgeous gulo, indeed . I sure like those colour combos, in dark bronze halo , rich sable browns, with that orange necklace bling to top it off....lovely animal .

JR, If you dont mind, Im going to save that wolverine for future reference ....his stare ,the light highlighting those wispy orange necklace hairs against the deep red bronze halo in the backdrop is such a nice contrast . I always love how winter snow light reflects in the eyes of any living being .

It may be a while, but when I "borrow" this one , Ill be sure to inform you, of course ....thank you , for your share in life adventures.

Laughed at the sliding video. Done that a time or two. Never done it with a wolf, though. Only a bear in a backpack down an avalanche chute. You can get some serious speed going, and yes you gotta be tough - it's hard on the bum! I ruined two pair of pants doing this.

Enjoyed the posts and photos as always.

Got a couple of your traps going out there now. Sure hoping they connect before I run out of time.

Just turn the groomer around and pull it the other way. Crosspieces will straighten right out, eh? Did that wolf die in the snare? How was the belly? Little green?

Nice pics! That lynx catch picture, that looks like your "catch all" set. That's been a good producer for you.

I like the sliding video, looks like you might get a free back adjustment as part of the deal!

Some great country you are in.

Sad day for this trapper. Finished closing up the line today. Great season with fur on the stretchers and no major mishaps. The wolves came back on to the lower end of the creek where I'd already pulled the gear. [Linked Image]
Lots of overflow with this warm weather. [Linked Image]
40 degrees and the wind blowing really depletes what little snow we had. Travel sure is nice with all this daylight though. The landscapes were worth pulling the camera out for.[Linked Image]

[Linked Image] Found a wolf kill right by the cabin. Figured they must have killed this in December before I got out there and the warm sunshine thawed it out for the ravens.
Coming out today, I should have been riding an ATV though. The last couple miles were rough with no snow. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
The mighty Tanana was still in a solid state so that was nice. I think I have one more trip on the sled. [Linked Image]
Got the Annual ATA fur auction and Spring Fling coming up on the 16th and 17th so hope to see some of ya there

I think it's always a little bittersweet to pull the gear out - especially when there is fresh sign around! But with the changing of the seasons, there are other things to do, and next season to be excited about and planning for.

You have very beautiful country and a very interesting life.

I got a wolverine this weekend but the wolf beat me to it left nothing but the head.. Pulled it right out of the trap.

AK thanks for all you share.
One question, what kind of paint do you use on your wolf traps?
I'm going to do mine this spring.
