We have an uninvited skunk making its way into the barns here on the farm. I normally use a live trap then kill them with a .22 but my live traps are in a shed buried in snow. Only thing I have is a mink box with a 110 conibear in it. I set it near the barn and baited it with sardines. Any of you guys catch skunks with a 110?

I don't think it would be strong enough to do the job and could actually be more problematic for you. Perhaps grab a shovel and try to dig out your live traps.

I've caught them in 110's, but sometimes they're not dispatched

Not strong enough to dispatch humanely.
A160 is a good skunk trap.[Linked Image]

I wouldn't want to further stress out a skunk being held by a 110... I used 155, it was lights out!

155 are my first choice. A new 120 will dispatch them rather quick! Ive considered adding a dozen belise 120s to my skunk arsenal. Misery only allows 5x5 and ive never seen a belise 155 yet!.

A 110 wouldn’t be my first choice for a skunk and would opt out for a 160 as well but I only own a few 110s and that’s it for conibears. Would it be worth it to go up town and buy a bigger size? It’s just the one skunk but wouldn’t be a bad idea to own one for cuter skunks. This one is just kinda one I got to get rid of right now and skunks aren’t a consistent problem.

id say go for it if its your property it shouldn't be a issue if its a not so great catch! Check early and often and by all means stake it down good

If you are going to use it,put another spring on it from one of the other 110's to make it a 120.A 120 magnum would be much better.
120's will kill skunks sometimes if the springs are strong. [Linked Image]

I find the very best trap for skunk is the sauvageau c-120 magnum with the strike bars. [Linked Image]

Run to Fleet Farm and get a Duke 160 or 220. Build a quick box and bait. Not real expensive and you will use both in the future. ( until the snow melts.)
