Was at an auction last weekend.

A Peter Wright 122lb went for $225.00

Not pristine, but not beat up either.

Zim, as just about everyone has said, $200 is dirt cheap for any decent anvil. It would also be a great deal for the seller if its a not-so-good anvil. Can you post some photos? I had looked for a London Pattern anvil for years, and thought people were nuts for even paying $200. I didn't realize how hot those anvils had become, and after several years I lucked out and stumbled onto one at a local scrap yard for 30 cents a pound or some such ridiculous price. It's heel has a slight crack, but I could sell it tomorrow for $3-400! It is a 143 lb. Wilkenson that was forged between 1830 and 1915.

In the Northwest here a 120-140 pound anvil will go for $600-$900+ You can all thank the show Forged in Fire for the increase in prices.

I got this one for $500 and it was a good deal up in this area. it was a 140 Kohlswa.

The one it is sitting on was 322 pounds and was for sale for $2000.

Machias nailed it. Television drove those prices up, just like that picking show did. Used to be $2 a pound around here, now its $6-$9.

Zim,just ask the guy what he wants for it,and offer him what you want to pay, come to a meeting of the minds and you will both be happy.

I was at a sale about 6 weeks ago and a 120-140 lb anvil brought $925. The cutter that didn't even fit that anvil, it was too small for the hole, it brought $125. Same guy didn't buy it. I asked the 80+ year old guy if he was a collector and he said no that was his first one, I asked him if it had a name on it and he said he couldn't make it out in the rust and was going to put oil on it to draw it out when he got home.

Now here is what is crazy, they sold 80 acres of coal rights only, that's only 1/2 mile from a working mine for $1800 for all of it. One of my coal buddies said that possibly they would not sell to the mine and they mined around it in which case they wouldn't nor couldn't go back to it. I also know the guy that bought it but haven't got the low down on it yet.

$925 for anvil---$1800 for 80 acres coal rights, don't make sense.

I bought a metal tool box that wasn't banged up with a 3/4'' extension 16'' long and some shorter ones and a 2'' socket for $8.

I have also seen some nice anvils cut and milled out of railroad track.

Ill double what you paid for it and come pick it up
