How this might apply to trapping - some ideas: At a set, if some lure is good, more lure is not better for coyote. Drawing coyote to a general area, place 'call' lure or large baits well upwind from mildly lured sets, and don't forget that as a general rule coyote prefer some cover to travel through. Coyote trappers who experience the so-called 'glorious third night' may be over-luring sets. Roadside trapping, though time-saving, may not be the best strategy, particularly in areas with more human activity. Over-luring or roadside trapping may result in a higher ratio of non-target catches.

Your suggestions?

Yeah, I gathered that I’m way way over luring and probably using too much urine! Think I try and use my nose rather than thinking about a coyotes. Got to get it out of my head that if I can’t smell it then he can’t either. It’s a wonder I’ve caught anything, especially since all my traps are on roads throughout the plantation.

To my way of thinking urine is a form of lure.

A tiny piece of a rotten deer will catch a coyote and so will a whole one

The No#1 scent used in trapping is 'urine'...
