Must be a big fire on the other side of the ice. Heavy smoke, here. And WAY to hot. Mid 80's in the shade.

Good point Allan! I need Ken to stick around many more years since I haven't found one of those to put a ring on and then I need to have her attend that class! I foresee him needing to live a few more decades or more laugh.

I feel badly for you folks up there dealing with heat similar to what we have normally this time of year today we may reach the mid 70's low 80's with flash floods possible in the area.
I worked down around Miles City and Baker Mt and both of those places had green grass and lots of it for a change if I could I'd send some cooler temps and some rain back that direction.

AV,

We had to put some smoke in there. Pretty much the whole rest of the state is already FULL!

Pete

I understand, Pete. Weird seeing a red orb in the sky at 5:00 in the morning, but can't see the mountains or glacier, as would be normal

Smokes not from my side of the glacier we’re all socked in with smoke too. Beaver is flying down to the Taku getting salmon. We’re hot here too 85-90 degrees for over a week now. We got the smoke jumpers stationed in town this year but so far only a few small fires that they got out right away. we went up in the mountains scouting for the upcoming season but we couldn’t see anything cause the smoke was too thick.
Hope it lifts for all of us soon.

Thanks for the report cat catcher. I will be up the Taku in a couple of weeks, just this side of the border.

Don’t fret AV, it will be wet and cold soon enough.

Well we’ve burned a good 100k + acres so far here, but the Good Lord keeps the smoke blowing to Anchorage smile. The fire’s only 10 miles away from work and we haven’t had a smokey day yet.
Thank God it finally cooled off the last 2 days; I’ve been melting the last 2 weeks.

Well we have the Nugget Creek, Caribou, Shovel Creek, Hess Creek fires and upper 80’s and 90’s for too long! One of our jobs is at Eielson AFB and some of the crews were sent home last week due to smoke. No wind whatsoever and the smoke is just hanging in here. Last night a thunderstorm and they predict another one tonight. BTW The Hess Creek Fire is the largest in the United States at this time, 159,425 acres.

Been a smoky year alright. Started early too. We got it first from the High Level fire, then one right here kept us down in smoke for a couple of weeks. Now a south wind is bringing us smoke from a couple of fires down on the Cassiar. Very hot dry year all over the north it seems. Water levels are as low as Ive ever seen them too.

AV maybe yours is coming from the Haines Jct fire?? BTW the Bicknels from your neck of the woods are coming in next week. Sandy has stage 4 cancer so Im looking forward to spending some time fishing and just visiting with him.

Yahoo! We just had a rain storm. The windows are open. We are trading hot indoor air for cool outside fresh air, before the smoke closes in again. I collected another 40 gallons of rainwater. Yahoo! (There isn't much activity from the local fire camp so there must not have been any noticeable lightening strikes.)
