I hope we never make the move to metric.
Most in this country have things people in other countries only dream about. Yet, they want America to be more like those other countries.

Being in the construction business and living 20 minutes from the US border, most people here are able to use both systems. In Canada, it is customary to use metric dimensions on shop drawings even if materials are typically noted in imperial (eg. 3/4" plywood becomes 18mm plywood). For US projects, most use feet/inches but there are some components like glass that are typically denoted in metric.
Most people here measure the outside temperature and run their cooking stoves in degrees F. I have yet to meet a single Canadian who would tell you to bake a cake at 176 deg C... most would simply say 350F.
I don't much care for metric in the building trades as the dimensions are generally in millimeters or meters so they can get clumsy (8' is 2439mm)
Just happy to be here.

The only thing that has saved this country is not switching to the metric system . lol Metric makes everything much easier. The United States' Citizens wholesale rejection of the metric system in the early to mid 1970's was the last time America showed any national unity. (other than 9/11) As I remember it, only ones for it were our school teachers trying to pitch a new system to us students after we had just mastered the British Imperial system/United States customary units. Only some Moon-beam/Wing-bat Crazy Mad Trapper like BOCO would favor the metric system. w

Back about 1969 I had lots of VW to make dune buggies .That when I found the Metric stuff. Well no tools then. But snap-on had them. I got a lot of tools and I never look back. Still have them ,and no problems with the system. Just junk china parts!!! Yeah, But The bigger question is: Will Indiana still let you ride your Metric built Dune Buggies over The Sand Dunes on Lake Michigan ? w

I think there are only two countries still in the stone age using English measure, some s-- hole country in Africa and the USA.Even the brits went metric and they invented the other system.
