Scott Welch makes some and I believe Wolfen bait/lure maker Jim Tate makes one also

Coyotes love fish. Been using carp chunks and fish oil for years on our line. It's a great change up from other meat based baits. Carol blacks fish bait is good. I've caught a lot of coon on Katz brothers black label coon bait which is fish or shellfish based, too. Tim Caven has a good coon bait that is fished based and works well on predators in general. So does Carmen's. See the theme? Look for a good fished based coon or mink bait and then use that on your dryland predator line instead. Give it a try. A shot of good sharp smelling shellfish or fish oil in a dirthole also works on coyote or fox for me. Salmon oil is nice change up too. I salt my own carp chunks and that works well. Coon and coyote alike. Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

It just can't be that simple.lol You have to experiment and add something to it. Best thing to add to any bait is location. It can be very simple, there was a man over the hill from me that caught a lot of fox in blind sets with uncovered traps, coons too. But what's the fun in simple, eh?

It just can't be that simple.lol You have to experiment and add something to it. I thought that was the only way to have a "proven" scent? Even then it could be a "not so great scent" < no idea what that is supposed to mean considering there are folks who hammer critters on certain bait and others not so much. I like simplicity. it takes many critters for me.

Don't use that pressed stuff sold on amazon. If you want fish oil get some good catfish or trout or spoonbill.

Blackies blend “thumbs up” is a fresh fish bait preserved. That’s the one I was thinking of previously. Really good coyote bait change up from other meat based baits. Jim

Chunked carp was one of my go to change ups for coyote bait. Free for me, fun to catch in summer. I had watched plenty of the far north folks feeding their dogs salmon or using salted or dried salmon at sets for a wide variety of animals it got my attention. Late season set I use a lot is in flat picked bean fields I kick a pile of bean chaff into a pile, bed the trap on one side and on that same side stick a chunk of carp back under the chaff pile. I think I added them to my coyote bucket when I started catching coyotes at my coon dirtholes baited with carp. A few catches at first sort of like a fluke. After several more catches it seemed to be something I needed to pay attention to. Jim

Jamesons has a good trout fish bait and a chunked bait. I’ve even had good luck with koi fish cleaned and chopped in half with some trout oil around it.

I was talking to a very well respected individual in the trapping community 5 or 6 years ago. He told me, "most people don't know this, but coyote love fish. Keep it fresh." I believe he used carp. Trust me, this guy has caught MANY coyote. At the time, I had trapped 43-44 years and had no idea.

I chop mine up with an ax or cleaver and they end up in maybe 2” by 2” pieces, about size I can shove down a dirt hole. Heads I leave whole and the heads work great for those bean chaffe sets where I don’t have to try to make a hole big enough to fit the head down in it. Jim

I'm going to give it a try. Trapping 101 Reminder- when using chunk bait, make your dirthole DEEP. Just saying...
