how much glycerin do you need to add to a gal of bait to keep it from freezing

I would think 4 ounces would be plenty, but I would start with 2 and stir it in and see how well it blends in. Put the bait in your freezer and see how much if any freezing you get. You can always add more, but can't remove it once its in there.

If you test it in the freezer, use a small sample of known quantity to start.Leave room for expansion in the jar.Put the jar in a plastic bag in case it breaks.

I use 16 oz per gallon but it gets much colder here.4 oz may work for you at least as a starting point. You may end up with 8 oz per gallon, but you will just have to experiment.

Keep in mind that not everything freezes at 32. I left some my own lure out on a 15 degree night and they didnt freeze without an antifreeze added. Now if I put them in a freezer for a couple of days they will freeze along with about all of my commercial lures.

Don't forget that included glycerine keeps bait/lure moist in low humidity

If your using it as a weatherproofing agent keep in mind in wet seasons it will mix with water.

I love reading stuff like this. It adds to my confusion!

Seriously though, Adam makes baits for serious cold. Bloomer, Wisconsin isn’t cold until it hits and stays at -12 for a week at a time. One pint per gallon should keep his bait moist and stinky to that temperature and lower. But Missouri and Arkansas, and to states that don’t generally get that cold, a pint might be overkill.

It all depends on the conditions under which it will be used.

Somewhat true but to keep a bait working or usable in say even fairly cold conditions a pint per gallon is not to much.
