Wow, I am sorry but did you forget to take your paranoid meds this morn. Trump can only be Trump with the support of his advisors and staff. He may say a couple off the cuff things but whats new? His administration is set in stone, hasn't changed one bit despite massive pressure, don't see it changing either.

I was joking Diggerman, making fun of grackle and his cheerleader James, hence the smiley face.

Or is grackle Jame's cheerleader?

The only way i think I would trust a politician to not support gun control would be for them to stand at the podium holding their own personal AR (or similar) and say this is mine and no man will take it from me nor would i let them take yours. Then i might believe them, anything short of that i will never believe them. Trump reportedly owning a little snub nose 38 is a far cry from whole heartedly supporting the second amendment.

I want to hear a politician say the national firearms act is unconstitutional

The first thing I take into consideration, and one of the primary reasons I voted for Trump, is his appointment and subsequent nomination of two conservative Supreme Court Justices. He has also nominated and had appointed around 150 other conservative federal judges.

Based on that alone I am comfortable considering him to lean farther right than left.

90% of ATF agents at minimum belong in prison

I don't think Trump will bother with gun legislation if he is reelected, he knows it won't solve anything, why waste the time. If anything he might push for National Carry or Hearing Protection Act. Now if a Dem. is elected we will have new laws.

I think Trump will push for more gun control, in the way of mental health.

Danny I get that, but not having to get reelected will open up other options. As of now we are all guessing.

Why didn't he push for those things when the Republicans held both the house and the senate during the 114th Congress? And if he couldn't pass those things then, what makes you think he'll have a chance of passing them if he's re-elected?

Things like gun control and illegal immigration will never be fixed, it's something republicans hold up and say "elect us so we can fix it!!!" But if they actually fixed it, they wouldn't be able to hold it up next time and say "vote for me!". Democrats do the same thing with health care, abortion, gun control, etc etc. If either side actually fixed the things they claim they'll fix, they won't be able to say "re-elect me, I promise this time I'll fix everything!" Your post illustrates that perfectly. You think if you re-elect trump he'll do good things on gun control, even tough he didn't fix it the first time he had a chance.

No one's gonna "fix" gun laws as you Goose and Danny like to post about. No one.
The reason?

There are to many against people having guns Willy-nilly. Just a fact...

I don't disagree at all. I don't expect gun laws to ever change much from where they are in my life time. Democrats will say they're going to "fix" stuff if they get elected president in 2020, and if a democrat does get elected, nothing major is going to change. Then that person will say "re-elect me in 2024 so I can "fix" things! and if they get re-elected, nothing will still change much." Same thing if a republican gets elected. Nothing's gonna change much for the better or worse. They might make minor changes and claim it as a huge victory, but that's about it. I may be wrong, we'll see. But it wouldn't surprise me if things don't change one way or the other.

Pretty sure you need 60 votes for a law to pass in the Senate, was there ever that number of Republicans, let alone discounting Rinos. To say Trump had a majority is a bit disingenuous but it is a typical Dem. talking point.

It takes 60 votes to end debate and force a vote, but a simple majority to pass a bill. The 114th congress had a 54/44 (plus 2 independents who vote with the democrats) republican majority in the senate and a 246/187 majority in the house.

Do you think the next congress will have 60 or more republicans in the senate? And if not, why would you think trump could get something like a hearing protection act or national concealed carry reciprocity passed? That's just laughable. And by that same logic, if the democrats can't get a 60-plus majority in the senate, we have nothing to worry about, right?

Also....if you're accusing me of being a democrat.....that's just too funny. Everyone here should know better than that by now.

And we needed at least 9 dems to vote for a pro- gun law. No way anything was gonna pass.

So as long as the democrats don't get a 60-plus majority in the senate, we've got nothing to worry about right?

The 60 vote threshold is what gun owning Dem. voters hide behind, hoping the Rep. will save them. Also I didn't accuse you of being a Dem. but said you used a Dem. talking point, which you did.
