Came across a few in a box from long ago. Anyone still use these? Don’t hear about em much but they worked well in underwater den entrances.

I have a dozen and I like them.for mink blind sets in tiny weedy waterways and ditches in fields around here. Built in stabilizer with that spike it works well.
Fast to set shallow rat runs with them too.

I only use them in water or where the animal can reach water.

It's funny that I actually understand this conversation now. About 3 weeks ago I was at a mini and picked up a dozen. As I was going through the pile I saw one with a spike sticking out of where the rivet was supposed to be so I took it. I thought that was a pretty good idea.

You need to put a 90 deg bend in the rod so the trap will close over the head and on on the TOP of the neck, not the side.

I understand that a bodygrip trap is designed for an over under catch but I use them a lot in a side to side catch and it works just fine. Animal is always dead in trap when I get there.

Wish I had more time to trap....

We used them by the hundreds back in the 70's. Really fast to set and very effective. I still have some. Side catches were not a problem as the rat drowned very quickly.

Most of my 110s are like that. Never a problem with them. They are great for muskrat dens.

Can one of you post a picture of on of these traps? I'm having a hard time picturing what they look like. Thanks!

tlguy, replace the pivot/rivet on one side with a long spike. A 110 would have the spring on one side and a spike on the other. You just push the spike into a muddy bank to stabilize the trap.

There are videos on youtube on how to do them.

minkles, a guy had those for sale for ~$2, used, at our Fall convention. I probably should have bought more than 2. I'm kinda looking forward to trying it.
