Are you guys using plastic skis? Mine are metal, but are awfully heavy.

My voyageur comes with 9.5" wide, plastic one piece skis. I know that skandic skins are ten inch. Both are very light and float well. I believe most people will be using plastic skis now since I don't think any models are made any longer with metal skis.

What year and model of sled is it?

I get a kick out of people making fun of me and my ideas.

Sometimes not much snow in this area but when there is and the pack on the trails get high and snow off to the sides get deep or just plain breaking trail I like real wide skies. This is my 5th set of them and sold on the protection it gives being up away from the snags etc. buried under the snow. I never have to dig my front out when I get stuck. Biggest negative I can see is side hilling on steep hills and carving is out cause you ain't going to sink that uphill ski no way. Don't do that anyway. Here's some Facebook pictures on how they are built on another machine - UHMW 1/4" plastic

That is the real benefit of wide ski skins on a big machine like a scandik, when the trail gets built up,you wont nose dive in the deep snow when you go off to one side or the other. You can travel at much higher speed on those trails because of it.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Great idea Stan.

I've been watching your YouTube videos. They're full of great information and I'm really enjoying them.

Thanks for sharing your life experiences.
