I have not used it on coyotes but like all other sets the trap bed spacing would be an issue I would think. Keep us posted

You're best bet is to use 2 traps to the set,if you use 1.75's step it up to bigger steel.A wider spread is a definite plus.here.Shake out 1/2 a bale,or less,up to you how much you want to use, make a small mound towards the edge, this is where your lure or bait will go.Place your traps in the hay out front of the mound, don't get carried away here with covering them up,it doesn't bother the coyotes.Due to the time of year with this set I always used drags.Where I live I always used straw because we have a lot of deer here.Another thing,I had my best luck with this set after it had that weathered look, this may be a regional thing but I can only remember one time where I caught one on a fresh set.

Heres my variation on the hay set, will see what comes of them. They are quick and easy, i did dig a trap bed and used some peat with straw lightly over it. I also took straw out of the calving barn, its got all kinds of goodies that coyotes like in it so i hope it works.

I've made them just how you made them in the past. Fox will go crazy for them (if there's any in your area)...I caught a number of bobcats using them years back when things got rough and I didn't know what waxed dirt was.. I did catch coyotes in them but they definitely aren't a large producer for them in my area.

Fox, Bobcat and Coyote will hit em. I like three traps size two or 3. Only set when good and cold and snowy so I do not then have to deal with opossum.

Here's a couple sets with catches. I know I had a double on fox in there somewhere too. This was two hay sets about 20 yards apart for a week or so if I remember right.

We do have some fox, but not a lot. Put out four hay sets and two dirtholes where i found some semi dry ground not froze rock solid. This weather is making me crazy, wish it would either stay cold or thaw completely, but thats trapping. I still have 11 traps under snowdrifts that i would like to get back to reset before May lol.

If you run across any mouse nests they are hard to beat under a bale or a hay set .

Not a fan so far, might be me, might be my coyotes, might be my impatience in this crappy trapping weather I have.

I went to a demo at this year's State Convention in which Trapper Art said to scatter bird seed in your straw set. He said it'll attract mice and pretty soon more furbearers will be attracted to the set.

Last year with all the wet weather haysets saved my butt on my coyotes. This year is the same. Coyote magnets here.

I like straw. Hay attracts deer.
