Seems to me the president has the authority to activate or federalize the guard effectively removing them from State control. No to familiar with the guard, my 20 was all active. Someone say so if this is not so.

I suspect that representative McEachin's strong suit is neither the English language nor Constitutional law.

He, McEachin, says the governor can "nationalize" the National Guard.

A governor can't 'nationalize' anything. Nor can he/she federalize anything.

I the Gov calls out the Guard I would hope that Trump would federalize them and send them to the southern border. Watch the gun grabber's heads explode with that one

There are only around 7500 Virginia guardsmen ..... a drop in the ocean compared to the number of people they would be up against. If it comes to a confrontation at all a good part of those guardsmen will break ranks being that they are getting an order to violate their oath. The governor is bluffing and is painting himself and his cronies into a corner.

The guard is property of each individual state. The federal govt has to ask permission to deplyy guard. May be some between the lines type stuff in the event it is a national emergency etc... Etc...

Just look at here recently with border crisis andd certain states withholding guard from federal use. The federal govt can't take a states guard unless it is authorized by that state.

Otherwise the guard would only be another branch of federal activity and control.

CAJTMC here in Indiana was a big deal. Has been several timess in recent history.

Yeah I think you're right about that Brian. Seems to me some rat governor refused to allow the guard from his state to be sent to the border. Not sure whether the courts have weighed in on that or not

My only doubt would be special occasion type stuff where federal govt needs to intervene for greater good of whole country.

With all of the folks showing up at every County Courthouse door in Virginia seeking a stop to this unconstitutional attack upon 2A, politicians up for election soon enough will not vote for a law which will undoubtedly cause them to lose their seat. That is all they really care about. Retaining their seat.

If war breaks out politicians, media outlets and public schools are my enemies. Politicians make the laws against the constitution but media and schools have been carrying out their propaganda for years. Enemy of the people.

Education system has been broke for years and needs total overhaul.

The "protesters" at Kent state were "interfering" with firefighters who were trying to put out fires to buildings that they had set.

The "protesters" were ordered to disband and never did.

The "protesters" were throwing rocks at the guard.

The Guard was never ordered to shoot into the crowd. Its unclear as to why they started firing, it is claimed by some that the guard did not fire the first shot.

We will never know.

Enough of the "protesters" at Kent State were not peaceful protesters, that is certain.

Its OK to shoot the citizens that dont tow the republican party line.
