Good Morning after looking closer it finally dawned on me that last set is a pair of moose antlers ha ha in my defense I've not had many chances to be around moose very often in the parts of Montana I've called home.

The one side appears to have a lobster claw looking set of pitcher's on it the right side antler , but then so does the middle set so possibly you have the horns off father and his son ?

Enjoy your day and Stay Safe out there !
Allan

Morning trappers, got a good message yesterday off my line. A buddy was hauling fuel out to his place and found a wolf in a trap along the trail. He asked what I wanted done with it. He dispatched it and hauled it in last night. Got it peeled last night. He said there was a wolverine in a trap also so that makes me happy. I wish he would have brought it in as well. Heading out this morn for a couple days on the line. [Linked Image]

I hope that wolverine is still there when you get out there. Great job on the wolf catches.

Good evening trappers, made it off the line with a couple more wolves and the wolverine. Trip started off pretty rough, getting the Expedition stuck pulling a sled and groomer

Please excuse the language

About 15 miles down the trail, I caught my wolverine but he wasn't the one I expected. This one seems to be smaller. 27 pound male caught in a MB750 blind trail set.

Missed a few wolves on the creek and was starting to get frustrated with this snow and drifting. Got a fire going in the cabin and followed the pack right up to Pee Post Pass where I had this 92 pound gray male in the brand new #9 I set last week.

Sorry about the follow up video but I forgot until I was way down the line. Found 3 caribou kills on the creek within a few hundred yards of one another. This cow had a collar. Saw lots of groceries on the creek. [Linked Image]

On up the line, I landed this nice 98 pound gray male in a Pee post stump I'd set for years. 1st time I'd caught a wolf in it.

JR great pictures as always I'd be willing to buy a copy of your #6 wolf looking at you from behind the tree as well as the one on the pass.
Has the package arrived yet ? It should be there very soon.

Lovely photos again, JR ! You have the area for pretty wuffs, for sure! Like the fluffy inner ears on the first one...how the soft fur folds around the bottoms from his head . More good template possibilities for your metal art.

And that wolverine ! Really like and prefer those darker ones , just love that deep red copper diamond . Inspires me onward with the one I am drawing these days.

Love the landscape shots...the angles of mountains , lighting, and water. Lovely day, indeed.

Thank you for the share.

Good deal on all the fur! Thanks for sharing the adventure! I always wondered that about the urine, brown vs yellow. Now you got me wondering if that is why I have not connect smile Good story about the trap smile You be safe Wildman!

I know the feeling of getting stuck. . . lotsa fun! Good way to sweat when you don't want to. The snow here this year is not settling and just doesn't seem to have a bottom if you get off the trail. Good looking fur! I've not caught a a marten in a snare, but last year a buddy snagged one in a blind trail set for lynx. Perfect neck catch. Just couldn't figure out why the marten was that far off the ground.

Greeting trappers, came off the line this morn. Had big plans for putting out some more wolf gear on the new line this morn but when I woke up it was snowing. I don't like to run the rivers when I cannot see. I get snow blind something fierce anymore and sure don't wanna be running virgin territory when I cannot see. Set all the gear I had left yesterday and pulled some less productive and drift prone gear to move on the way back to the cabin.
Guess I got ahead of myself, I picked up another wolf in the post on the end of the airstrip below the cabin. 1st female of the season for me, 80 pound gray female in a AK#9. [Linked Image]

Reset the post after cleaning it up a bit.

Tended to the rest of the line, cleaning off gear and setting some new gear. Set out on the new line seeing quite a bit of wolf sign.

Picked up a huge male lynx in a wolf snare at the bait. 5/64 1x19 with a Seneker Magnum kill spring. Didn't take any pics.

Got some fur to put up, 9's to build, ATA fur auction and Fling are coming soon and freight to haul. I got a lot to do. Let alone gotta enjoy the spring.

As always great pictures and videos from your trap line JR congratulations on having two good looking helpers with the one wolf your skinning in your shop .

I agree with you those pelican totes are great for storing anything you want to keep protected for the applications I've seen them used the most for the wheels and retractable handle were darn handy something you probably don't need often I'm sure.

I'd still like a copy of the wolf picture peaking around the little tree if you get the chance to make a copy.
Have fun at the fling and fur auction take some pictures for those of us who can't attend. What kind of ivory trap is on the auction block this year ?

Thanks for the ride along. Question, how well do you brush out your tracks after you mess around at a wolf set? I saw a couple of your videos, including the wolf box one where you hung around at the set for quite a while. Do you go to any great lengths to wipe out your tracks? I usually try not to hang around a set any longer than necessary, then sweep out my tracks when I leave. Just curious...
