Does anyone have a bait they use on Hagz brackets and 3/8 fiberglass poles on the triggers of 110's or above a coil spring with a bait holder? Carrots do not seem to work well around here.

In the spring a chunk of poplar tied off to your stake works well. Just rough up the bark a bit. And If you can get some poplar bud oil and spray It on that stick It will work even better.
Ground up rat glands would be my first choice In the spring. And Lenons rat all call Is a god lure.
Another thing you can try Is just wrap some lime green surveyors tape around your stake. I know when I did that In ND In the spring the rats would eat It right off the stake.

I've tried apples and carrots and neither one has worked for me. I'm just east of you. So I just do blind, runs and slides.

Try a 2" -3" piece of celery stalk, works well here when carrot or Apple doesn't. It has a faint smell as well as good visual effect.

Carrots for me too bad they aren't working for you. I like parsnips too they seem to stay white longer than potatoes and apples but bulk carrots are way cheaper. I haven't done it but I've seen good evidence that a few inches of fluorescent green/chartreuse surveyor tape can be very attractive to muskrats including under ice tied to body grip triggers.

I almost do not want to tell you the percentage of muskrats I have caught in my Portable Pocket System , using trout heads and a chuck of muskrat for bait, in my attempt to catch mink...
Now what would a muskrat want with that , you may ask ?
And I wish I had an answer that made sense, but I don't.
It has something to do with the odor, I'm sure.
I'm not sure if they'll eat it or not...
What I do know, is that it works and in reality works all too well.

On float sets, both using cage traps on a floating plank and foot hold traps, I have had much success using carrots.
Parsnips, also work, yet cost more to buy. They do resemble a muskrat's favorite food, which is a 'cattail root'.
Having said that, cattail root , white in color is fine bait, but not as durable as the two I just mentioned.
A lot of muskrats have been killed using apples as bait.
All of these have a strong odor and I believe that does help. Break a carrot in half some time and smell it !
Shell corn also works well...but then, you've got a waterfowl issue in many places.

I agree on a muskrat hind leg for muskrat bait.Caught lots of rats in mink boxes when using rat for bait-so many in fact I started nailing the box to a run pole out into the water with a rat trap on it to keep the rats from plugging the 120's in the box for mink.

Peppermint extract or spermint extract mixed with oil and flour works great with an apple or parsnip
