You might be better off posting this question on the lure and bait making forum . I don’t sell any castor , just pin it to a board in the fur shed( garage ) and let it dry . Then I use it as needed !

The NAFA wfsc beaver DVD is on YouTube. It's on the added value section.

Beaver Castoreum

This seemed pretty straight forward right here. Got em hanging in the shed.

Keep your boots dry and your powder too.

I remember when a fur check was reality.....now I'm just trapping for the love of it.

Best Regards,

JT

You don't need a video, you just need a taut cotton string in a place that is not too warm.
I turn mine, every day for the first few days until it is dry to the touch on the outside.
Don't let them touch together when you first hang them to prevent them drying properly.
You can over dry them too !
Removing them properly, should be the first concern, but if you save them for your won use, a slight tear won't matter !

I should have been more specific. My problem is removing the thin membrane without cutting into the castor.is it about only using your fingers?

Yep, you can roll the castors out of the the membrane with your fingers. Still have to be careful as less than full castors can be torn if you grab the wrong thing. Works better if the temps are cold. If it's warm or the beaver isn't room temperature yet, chilling them makes it easier.

big thing i have learned this year is do it as soon as you take them out.the longer you wait the harder it gets.
