Nittany Your top numbers aren't horrible, bottom could be reduced a little. I am no doc but my wife was a nurse in a cardiac floor.
I take meds for BP. My bottom number used to be the culprit, top numbers were perfect. Now my bottom numbers are good and my top numbers are climbing a little. Getting older I guess.

I didn't know I had high BP until I went in for a laser eye surgery. They took my BP before the surgery. It was 160/131. That was a year ago last February. They said I was a good candidate for a stroke with the bottom number that high. I take carvedilol and amlodipine. I also have A-fib and take warfarin for that. My BP last time I took it was 120/84. They said that was normal for my age. I use a cuff type to check my BP.

X2 I am on 4 meds and mine is always about around 140/90 and sometimes a little lower or higher.

Do all you with high BP avoid eating salty foods religiously? Ocean fish seem to be naturally salty, but they sure are good.
My cardiologist gave me a list of salt substitutes to use. None of them are palatable, IMO.

Years ago when I was first diagnosed with elevated BP I used to salt EVERYTHING. So I quit using it completely (except what is in food). In 6 months my BP DID NOT improve at all.
I use it now but sparingly.

After my heart attack I cut way back on salt, now I can't stand if food has much salt on it.

120/78 is my avg. Been on HBP meds for 12 years am 58. (in 19 days) used to run 140/90-110. Med, low salt, weight loss. If i retire it would help the stress

I've never added salt to food, only what's in the food after it's cooked. Had a fried chicken breast for lunch and a salad today. I'm sure there was salt in the breading. I used to love salted in the shell peanuts. Gave them up, though. Still eat nuts a lot, but mostly unsalted. Hazelnuts in the shell are hard to beat.

OK
Wrist cuffs are bad--in general (not every one) they are inaccurate.

To get a proper blood pressure reading--sit calmly for 5 minutes with both feet on floor. With blood pressure cuff LEVEL WITH THE UPPER PART OF YOUR HEART, take blood pressure with automatic upper arm cuff.

To get it at the right level, sit at kitchen table. Put elbow on a thick book if you are about 5'9". No book if you are short, Several books if you are tall.

Goal is whatever your doctor told you. Too many variables to give recommendations on a forum. (atherosclerosis, CHF, kidney disease, peripheral artery disease, prior stroke, thyroid problems, and many others).

I appreciate all the relies. I very seldom salt anything but I must admit I eat a lot of potato chips and they have salt. I quit using a salt shaker at the dinner table at least 40 years ago.

L-Arginine supplement is good for circulatory system. It relaxes blood vessels.

Mine runs 160/90 in town but at cabin 125/75 the other day at doc office I hit 238/138 fun times. They still can not figure out why I run high so I may have to just move to cabin for medical reasons
