I didn't know I had high BP until I went in for a laser eye surgery. They took my BP before the surgery. It was 160/131. That was a year ago last February. They said I was a good candidate for a stroke with the bottom number that high. I take carvedilol and amlodipine. I also have A-fib and take warfarin for that. My BP last time I took it was 120/84. They said that was normal for my age. I use a cuff type to check my BP.

When mine gets to 210/120 I figure I should sit and relax a bit. Like White I am on 4 meds but after 22 years and every med/dose they could think of, the docs have decided that no matter what they prescribe, my body quickly figures how to get back to where it wants to be. If I had your readings I would not be concerned at all. X2 I am on 4 meds and mine is always about around 140/90 and sometimes a little lower or higher.

Do all you with high BP avoid eating salty foods religiously? Ocean fish seem to be naturally salty, but they sure are good. My cardiologist gave me a list of salt substitutes to use. None of them are palatable, IMO.

None of them are palatable, IMO. Years ago when I was first diagnosed with elevated BP I used to salt EVERYTHING. So I quit using it completely (except what is in food). In 6 months my BP DID NOT improve at all. I use it now but sparingly.

After my heart attack I cut way back on salt, now I can't stand if food has much salt on it.

I've never added salt to food, only what's in the food after it's cooked. Had a fried chicken breast for lunch and a salad today. I'm sure there was salt in the breading. I used to love salted in the shell peanuts. Gave them up, though. Still eat nuts a lot, but mostly unsalted. Hazelnuts in the shell are hard to beat.

I appreciate all the relies. I very seldom salt anything but I must admit I eat a lot of potato chips and they have salt. I quit using a salt shaker at the dinner table at least 40 years ago.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

I am thinking 120/80 is pretty good, how about 142/89 @ 6:30 AM and 120/90 @ 1:00 PM? Mine is much higher in the morning, some times at night I'm about 110-70
