I was taught to put my bait in a small ball of sheeps wool and push it down the hole. Gives another smell for the animals to investigate.

Too much trouble with mice pulling it out

Put my bait in a pill bottle with a few holes near the top of the bottle then down the hole. Bait stays fresh in the bottle and the mice can not get to it.

I even use sheep’s wool in my pipe’s with the bait on top. Even if the bait dries out or ants get in it, that wool holds the smell for weeks.

I like it for eye appeal, but can't use it where I trap. Switched to raw cotton. Just as good and way way cheaper. Poly fill is plastic and I try not to leave it laying around.

I use it, but you want good raw sheep wool, that, well, stinks like a sheep.
Ideal would be be color stained at the top, white-ish in the middle and yellow-ish near the skin.

A poke hole with the 'yellow-ish end' barely protruding and a fresh dropping has nailed a good many sharp coyote.

(why the yellow end ? That's where the lanolin smell (wool grease) is the highest concentrate)

I've been using it the past couple years. I got a 30 gallon trash can full of it for free. So I think I am good for awhile!

If I use it I throw it down in the hole last, on top of the bait or lure
It's pretty easy for them to snag it and get it out of the hole and I dont want them getting the bait or lure out that easy if I don't catch them right away .

Want raw, smelly sheeps wool? PM me after Thursday, I'll have bags of it for sale. Good and oily, with lots of sheepy smell (our sheep get sheared Wednesday).

I use a wad of grass in hole then bait then another wad of grass.
Used sheep wool years ago and it worked well too.

Been doing it for a few years now, it adds to the attraction.

I have a friend who raises sheep. Won't let me trap his farm but gives me all the wool I want. I have used it for years.

I like it just have to have it concealed not for legal reasons but crows and ravens can spot it a mile away
