From the way I read the Indiana rules as long as it has at least 1/8 inch offset and these are 1/4 they can be up to 6 1/2 inches inside spread, either jaw to jaw or post to post and be legal here out of water. Can't be greater than 5 3/4 without offset jaws.


Measure the widest inside jaw spread perpendicular to the trap’s base plate as in Figure 3 and circle the measurement (or closest measurement) in Column 1.
Measure the inside width between the trap’s hinge posts as in Figure 4 and circle the measurement (or closest measurement) in Column 2.
If both measurements fall in Box 1, then the trap can have standard jaws (offset jaws are not required).
If either measurement falls in Box 2, then the jaws of the trap must have at least a 1⁄8 inch offset or the gap of the offset can be filled with securely attached rubber pads. “Securely attached” means with bolts or rivets, not tape.
If either measurements fall in Box 3, then the trap must be completely covered by water.

Gary,I don't know the answer to that.There is a Management Advantage video showing a shiny,new Duke 650,that they say,at that point,Jan 7,2020,it was the only one in existence.

As far as I know there hasn't been any field testing. Probably no need since they are just like every other coil spring trap.

There are a few YouTube videos showing guys using them.

I couldn’t agree with you more. It sucks watching videos or pics of folks up north or out west using larger traps for yote, bobcat and wolf but we can’t down here. Heck Clint Locklear uses the big CDR traps on bobcat out in Texas.

I thought someone said the inside was 6 inches across the jaws and 6 1/2 post to post, I wasn't buying any anyway. Sounded like the measurement on the duke add differed from what people were getting on their new traps. Beav needs to get his yardstick out and give us the true inside post to post measurement.

Wasn't trying to be an arse hole, sometimes people interrupte things differently, the jaw spread perpendicular to the base is 6 inches but post to post it's over 7 inches. I just didn't want you reading the rules incorrectly and costing yourself no malice intended.

Thanks, no problem, I was thinking it would make the 6 1/2 measurement, but I also didn't have one to measure either.

I for one won't buy any trapline tool that hasn't been proven on the actual trapline! Trappers should not test new traps for any manufacture. I was going to buy some of the D550s until I held one. I don't have time to tweak after catches.. at any price! Even free.... Confidence in our tools imperative. For most of us anyway..

The 650 should preform just fine with out all this tweaking thought process. There's trappers out there that would build their own traps to their own specs and still not be happy with the out come. Then there are the ones who just HATE Duke traps whether they have even set one. To each his own.

Can anyone that got some tell me what the pan pressure is right out of the box if they checked them?I was planning to look at some at the rondy this year but they cancelled it.Hope to get to finger some sometime this summer.
