I have a few Duke 1.5 off set traps. I know people trap muskrats with 1.5s but will the off set jaws make to big of an opening for the rat to pull out of the trap before it drowns?

Weld a piece of #9 wire over the off-set. Or get a few replacement pads for soft catch.

Depending on how the jaw ends are formed you might be able to reverse the jaws to eliminate the offset.
