I would bet there have been more LEO's shot in the last two months than people that don't listen. Maybe if people would quite shooting LEO's they would not feel like that had to shoot some thug to stay alive. To me if you don't comply, as in this case, use what ever force is needed. I have no sympathy for him.

We have gone over this before
So some of you think it's ok for police to shoot someone if they don't comply ?
Or if they " might " have a gun ?
If this is ok then alot more people gonna get it in the back ....lol There is a big difference between not complying and what happened here, if this had been a law abiding citizen with no criminal record then I might feel different, but this was a man that not only had an open warrant out for him but had a previous incident with the police involveing a illegal handgun resulting in injury to an officer and then he reaches out of sight after not complying with the police what do you expect to happen Now if this had been joe average citizen I expect that there would have been a bit more leeway given him on the part of the officers because their not dealing with a known dangerous criminal who has already shown his willingness to use a gun and use violence against officers Frankly I don’t know why anyone is still a police officer no matter what you do you get (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) on by the public, if it was me I would have quit a long time ago and left the public to fend for themselves and get what they desire a society where there is no law except what you are able to enforce yourself, nor is there safety except as provided by you own hands

Reasons for going to the car:
1. The cops had bad breath and he was going to get them some tic-tacs. 2. One of the cops asked him for a light and his lighter was in the cup holder in the car. 3. One of the cops noticed a Dunkin Donut box through the window and asked if he happened to have a glazed.

My question is why he wasnt tackled before he got to the door of the vehicle. It wasnt like he was running.
An other armchair quarterback that doesn’t have a clue. Most people would wet there pants if they had to respond to what Law Enforcment do every day.

Hard to say. If I had to assume, maybe they were trying no to use force since a crowd had gathered. It all happened very quickly. The video is 7 seconds long. If You think about it, you would have to holster your weapon, make sure it's secure and then make your move and the guy is going to know you are coming. By the video, it looks like that may have been about to happen by the officer grabbing at his shirt but then things escalated. Also in the video, as the guy is walking to the van door, he puts his hand in his pants waistband what's he doing that for? I won't be surprised if they find a weapon but this is just all conjecture on my part. Hopefully they had body cams and that should clear things up quite a bit.

I have a friend that is a cop with a big city police department. He's on the swat team now and does a lot of no knock warrants and stuff like that. He said when he went through the police academy there was a great deal of training on physical fighting techniques. Since then, he said, there has been a shift away from engaging in physical fighting and a shift to training policeman to use their tools - such as taser, mace, pistol. I don't think cops even carry billy clubs anymore, do they? I think if a wanted man defies orders from police and gets into his car, apparently to reach for something, the police are in the right to respond with force. I just wish there had been a less lethal alternative in this case. Of course, if the cop saw a weapon in the car - I say he did the right thing by blazing away.

I couldn't tell when the guns were drawn first. Once drawn youre in no man's land unless the guy gives up. Obviously getting in close combat reach of a bar guy with a drawn or loosely secured weapon is a bad idea.
