I remember watching football since I was a little kid. I watched NFL for years, and got into college ball later in life. Since starting to watch football, Alabama has always been my team. I gave up NFL when Kapernick first knelt. I knew it was only a matter of time until the insanity spread to college ball. That started last week, with both Ole Miss and MS State cancelling practices in honor of a rapist killed by police. I still held out a small ray of hope for Bama, but yesterday that ended, with Saban marching through the streets with the team holding signs saying BLM and All Lives Can't Matter. It is with a heavy heart that I now give up ALL organized sports. No college ball for me anymore.
On the upside, I guess I'll have more time to hunt and trap.

I feel your pain....When Kentucky saw fit to get involved with telling Mississippi what flag they should have, that done it for me.
I'm done!

Figured this would happen. Arkansas hasn't done nothing yet that I know of but I figure it's just a matter of time.

Yotetrapper30, its a tough day to reconcile but it is reality.
I used to have four season tickets on end of a row for husker games. We had those for years. Now the huskers of course nosedived into crapper over the years but prices kept going up and my wife and I finally said this is stupid for our family to watch a bunch of college kids.
Let's see...we generally had 7 home games at $50-$60 per seat, x 4 seats, plus $250 per seat donation requirement that under IRS rules we could only claim 20% of that and the real tax credit impact was even less than that. No clue what they charge ticket holders today but that was what we paid in early Bo Pallini years and that was a couple of coaches ago. That also doesn't include anything you buy at the games too like $5 bottle of water or $7 sandwich, x 4, amd if game days are hot you need to buy way more water for everyone because you cannot bring your own into the stadium, plus gas to drive to the game, plus parking costs, etc. Etc. Etc. It was an insane amount of money and they sold out every game for how many years? Thats nuts. Then in moving to big ten conference if you have BTN network you can stay in comfort of your home and watch pretty much all 7 home games. They still fill the stadium though. And the team isn't even winning! Team now isn't playing at all this fall and you'll think the sky fell here. Lots of teams in other sports in spring had to forego their seasons...now its fall sports turn to sit out for COVId and the folks here are screaming because their $ are not in motion around here. Fall was like black Friday for most restaurants and bars too, let alone the ticket and concession sales revenues.
Add in some political flavor like you are seeing with your Crimson Tide...and its an eye opener for sure. Think of what Saban alone earns, let alone what that team generates for the college and your community, and yep by gosh they can and will parade and wave promoting whatever they want to do. Thats the reality of it. Kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth doesn't it?? At endnof day they are just college kids, too, and most will not go on to play professional sports but hopefully will be good citizens. What a machine we have built with college football economics. Wow.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

YES that's what the sign said, ALL LIVES CAN'T MATTER! Well guess what, Alabama football and liberal loving Saban don't matter either!
Been a die hard fan, enjoyed all the championship's, etc. but im not alone, this is the wrong state to be doing such, hope they can sell enough Mercede's cars and suv's to keep paying Saban's salary, won't get another dime out of me nor A WHOLE LOT of use to be fan's they had in this state either.
Tuition keeps going up, education you get isn't worth the paper it's written on, etc, etc. College's are about to die off in record fashion in the coming years. It's just sad that liberals have / are destroying EVERY tradition in this country that once binded us together and made our country strong.
As for money the team brought in annually, it was a one BILLION dollar impact on the state! Tuscaloosa has a liberal democrat mayor so of course the whole town is near lock down, voter's are just waiting on an election to remove him, most are fit to be tied already before Saban pulled this stunt.
Imagine he'll be retiring soon anyway so he doesn't care.
Not my circus, not my clowns.

NC State cancelled their football season yesterday. Cited injuries as well as the number of players who opted not to return this year.
College football funds many other athletic programs.
Suppose a public or private university has financed a new stadium. Season closing will be a big problem, but who wants to foreclose on a football stadium?

Actually I think the theme was, "All lives can't matter until Black Lives Matter." At least that is the account I read.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.
