Burnt up my 2nd makita drill a few days ago in 2 years punching dirtholes. The ground im in is pretty rocky stuff. Been looking at a milwaukee m18 or a dewalt 20v. What are y'all using? Any recommendations?

What size auger are you using?
I switched to a 1" auger and most of my problems are a thing of the past
I use a 20v porter cable

I like 1”. When drawing the bit out at the end ream out the top of the hole. If your on location it’s enough.

Ridgid 18v, been used couple years in rocky hard ground. Works good, great battery life, good price. I will not disagree with anyone using Milwaukee by any means I have both I just wanted something cheaper to beat around for trapping. Very satisfied with Ridgid though.

Dewalt 20v brushless. 1” - 4.5” augers. 6 and 9ah batteries.

I'm itchin' to see a coyote twitchin'.

More trappin' and less yappin'.

All Milwaukee for me. Use a drill for dirt holes and a rotary hammer drill for when things get tough. The rotary was some of the best money I've ever spent.

Milwaukee 18 volt 1/2” hammer drill has been working great for many years. 3 years ago when putting up wood duck nest boxes I dropped it in the water. I recovered it and rinsed out the muck, let it dry very well, installed a new battery, and it has worked great ever since. Of course the battery did not survive the swim.

What Milwaukee rotary hammer are you guys using?

I bought a Milwaukee 2712-20 M18 1" SDS Plus. Can't imagine trapping in this country without one, having to deal with a bunch of frozen ground.

X2 on the Ridgid, except I'm just plain cheap! I just wanted a cordless drill for around the house and random projects. It has worked just fine on the trap line. But if I had splurged on the Milwaukee I'd be using it with an ice auger for sure!

Let's go Brandon!
