I got some some scraps of steel cloth and pieces of fense panels and such laying around. So I figured I could put that all to good use and construct some quick tunnels for mink. I was wondering how small I could get away with? Would 4 inches be good? Or too small?

I would make them no larger than the outside diameter of the traps you will have guarding both ends. 4” tunnel for. 1.5 coil I think would be ideal.

A quick tunnel can be made by leaning a rock against a vertical bank or bridge wall.

I do this on occasion with 110's at dry underpasses

I have used mink tunnels made out of plywood for 120 BG traps and they work great. Placed in small feeder streams it will take any rat or mink travelling the stream as it seems they cannot pass up exploring the tunnel. No bait or lure is used. They also make good small stream snowmobile bridge abutments while at the same time targeting mink and rats.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.
