If you have scrap wood laying around build a small box to fit a #1 or #1 1/2 coil. Hinge bottom or side to put trap in. Cut 2" hole in top for coon to reach in just like commercial dog proof traps. you get the idea.

If you only have a few locations, this would work fine. Once each. Coon, at least the coon around here, would do so much damage to a wooden enclosure that it would be pretty worthless. A handful of dogproofs will last dozens of years.

I made several of these about 8-10 about 15 years ago. Lot of work and cutting and mine were made out of 1/2 plywood and the coons I caught destroyed every box that they got caught in. So I burned them before the next season and bought some DPs later.

Try scrap plywood with a 2 inch hole in it dig a trap bed out offset from the hole in the wood deep enough so that a closed trap won't touch the wood use a heavier chunks of wood or other material on the plywood to keep the wood from moving if it gets pawwed at use it to block it up some get them coming in the direction of the trap.set pan tension to practically nothing and use a sticky lure or bait so it sticks tight to the pan. If you would like a pic I can make one up tomorrow and show you

If your looking to catch a coon or three...maybe want to try it. Otherwise there are a heck of a lot of easier ways(including dogproof traps) that you can use, to put up numbers of coons with much less time and effort, imho.
